How to stick ceramic on top of ceramic

The process of gluing ceramics on top of ceramics is a matter that needs to follow the following steps and a feeling of boredom should not creep into your souls.

1- Clean the old ceramic

The first step is to clean the old ceramic well, so cleaning materials can be used can be used to get rid of all dirt and dust stuck to the old floor. The floor must become very clean, and free of any dust or dirt.

2- Preparing the new ceramic plates

After the floor is cleaned well, the ceramic plates are taken out of the carton , then the ceramics are arranged according to their colors and shapes. There are many drawings and decorations that can be created with ceramics . . The graphics on the box must be looked at to see how to properly paste while retaining the distinctive decorations.

3- The stage of ceramic installation

This stage includes several steps that must be taken into consideration and accuracy in their implementation, the first of which is the application of the adhesive, as there are many types of ceramic adhesives that have been discovered recently. Never use cement , which is one of the cheap and completely reliable materials for gluing ceramics over old ceramics.

4- Applying the adhesive

This material usually comes in the form of bags weighing approximately 20 kilograms, and each bag is sufficient for approximately 2 square meters of ceramic, where the material is mixed with an appropriate amount of water  in a bowl until we have a thick mixture that is somewhat difficult to move. Then, using a putty knife, an appropriate amount of adhesive is taken and spread evenly over the old ceramic or tile.

5- Start sticking the ceramic

Here the choice is up to you. You can start gluing the ceramic from the middle of the room exactly, where the first ceramic plate is placed exactly in the middle. This process is done by determining the middle of the horizontal and vertical rooms using chalk. In other words, the floor of the room is cut into four quarters and starting from the axis exactly, to reach the corners of the room.

It can be started from the top of the room if there is no specific decoration you want, where the tiles are arranged one by one, to reach the second side of the room and then take the measurement using the meter tape, then cut the ceramics with the electric saw, and paste it in the same way.

6- Make sure that the ceramic tilt is correct

The great experience in installing ceramics depends on making sure that the correct ceramic is tilted towards the water drain . By using a water ruler, or as it is called a mercury ruler, the ceramic inclination is ensured and directed into the water stream so that water spots do not collect in specific places and forms similar to small swamps appear.

So, the ceramic is hammered with a hammer dedicated to that, then the water ruler is placed and the pointer is tilted by one degree towards the drain , and thus the rest of the ceramic plates are completed.

7- Finishing

As a last stage, the remnants of the adhesive are cleaned . After the installation of the entire ceramic plates is completed, the room is left for a whole day until the adhesive dries completely, and the ceramics are completely fixed. After that time,  a "robe" is made to fill the spaces between the ceramic tiles . Where the plastic spacers are removed first, and the instructions written on the hill package are read to prepare it and mix it with water, and then spread it on the tiles. Use a water-dampened sponge to wipe off the appendages before the dressing dries.
